Are you safe at work? In a time filled with terror attacks and disgruntled workers, safety is top of mind for many employers. CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot went to one business that is taking the extra steps needed to make sure their workers and product are safe.
UltraPure Systems in Arlington Heights packages about 20,000 bottles of drinking water each day.
"We bottle for a varying degree of businesses, from Autism Society on the philanthropic side, all the way through to McGrath Lexus, a car distributorship, all the way to golf courses, like St. Andrews," said Greg Nischke, the Director of Sales and Operations at UltraPure.
Nischke said his goal as director is to make sure his employees and the water supply are safe.
"Philosophically, we believe in disaster avoidance instead of disaster recovery. As soon as you think your comfortable is when something normally happens, so that's why bringing in the colonel is very important to us," Nischke said.
UltraPure hired Retired Col. Jill Morgenthaler. The former Illinois Homeland Security Director has 30 years of military experience.
She now heads CJMI. The company works with places like UltraPure and even local governments to make sure they are safe in the event of a natural or manmade disaster.
